One of the family scenes of the Great Grey Owl this summer. Shot in middle of june - the male is bringing a vole to the youngs. The biggest of the 3 youngs (note them all in the hollow stem of the tree) is also the most hungry. See previous posts for the youngs when they were bigger and had left the nest. (lappuggla)

Summer and swallows. Here a Sand Martin (backsvala/digesvale) from one of the days of my summer courses in photography at Fridhem Folkhögskola (http://fridhem.fhsk.se/sommarkurser).
It was my 13th year as a teacher and instructor here and 3 weeks - and 3 courses are now to an end.

When the youngs of the Great Grey Owl are leaving the nest - they will hang around the nest-tree begging for food. The male has a hectic time hunting as much as he can bringing voles and mice in - in  shuttle-traffic. I photographed the youngs in the light nordic night to get the right atmosphere and its a double exposure with the moon, as it was at the time. (lappuggla/laplandsugle)

Not many post posts lately - but a lot of time in the field. I have followed a pair of Great Grey Owls breeding and bringing up their young's successfully. Deep in the Northern Swedish woods - with tons of blood-sucking mosquitoes and black flies feasting on me.
Here the male brings a vole to the female while she is warming the chicks in the broken stem.
