Clay lick and nearby siege in the Yasuni

Another image from Yasuni National park - Ecuador. Cobalt-winged Parakeets, Scarlet-shouldered Parotlets and Orange-cheeked Parrots are eating mineral clay to help them digest their poisonous diet of nuts and seeds. Another miracle of this, the worlds richest, biodiversity hotspot - now seriously threatened by the oil industri. Most of the Ecuadorian Amazon is under drilling and the state has licensed Chinese prospectors to have a go in the park - the last pristine area. A catastrophe !!
